Hypertec stands in solidarity with concerned citizens, environmental organizations, and scientific experts in recognizing the urgent need to protect and preserve the biodiversity of the Technoparc.
As a company committed to corporate sustainability and environmental responsibility, we firmly believe that the preservation of natural habitats and ecosystems is of paramount importance. We acknowledge the significance of the wetland complex, including the buffer zone surrounding Heron Pond and IPEX Marsh, and the valuable role it plays in supporting local biodiversity.
To ensure the protection of these wetlands and greenspaces, we have worked with leading environmental experts, biologists, architects, and urban planners to develop a comprehensive plan that adheres to the highest standards of eco-friendliness.
Sustainability is at the core of our project’s design and implementation. The new Hypertec Eco-Campus will lead as being one of the greenest and most sustainable buildings in the world. It will become a technological showcase and reference for innovative best practices.
Our commitment to sustainable practices includes:
Environmental Impact Assessment:
Prior to initiating the project, we conducted a thorough environmental impact assessment, including data provided by the Quebec department of Environment on the critical wetlands of the Technoparc, to identify and mitigate potential risks. Our findings guided us in adopting measures to minimize disturbances to the local ecosystem, such as the preservation of existing green spaces, strategic site layout, and the implementation of green building technologies. Once the project will be completed, we also committed to having more trees on the site than originally existed, including the construction of the world’s largest rooftop greenhouse in an industrial setting.
Biodiversity Conservation:
We recognize the importance of preserving the local biodiversity. Our project design includes the integration of wildlife-friendly features, such as green corridors, bird-friendly facades, and the use of native vegetation to create a harmonious coexistence between the built environment and the natural surroundings.
Efficient Resource Management:
Our project incorporates state-of-the-art technologies and sustainable materials to optimize energy consumption and minimize waste generation. We are committed to utilizing renewable energy sources, implementing energy-efficient systems, managing clean and wastewater and promoting responsible waste management throughout the construction and operational phases.
Community Engagement:
We are dedicated to engaging with environmental organizations, such as Technoparc Oiseaux, and seeking their feedback to continually improve our sustainability initiatives and ensure the preservation of the ecosystem.
With this project, Hypertec remains committed to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship. We will continue to support initiatives that foster biodiversity conservation, reduce our ecological footprint, and advocate for the protection of vital greenspaces within urban areas. By working together, we can create a sustainable future that values and protects our natural heritage, ensuring the well-being of both present and future generations.
