To keep up with our rapid growth, we are looking for an R&D Specialist, Mechanical to join our growing team, all while being a leading example of our company culture.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Report on the objectives and deliverables to be achieved regarding the division of work;
  • Manage and actively participate in projects: prototypes, sample requests, etc., from design to pre-production;
  • Responsible for design of mechanical system & components;
  • Responsible for testing, improvement & modifications of various prototypes;
  • Participate in improving practices and processes within the team
  • Maintain good business practices and acumen;
  • Report on the management of resources associated with different R&D projects;
  • Execute theoretical calculations and mechanical design work
  • Convert theory to practice from design to real prototypes
  • Troubleshoot various mechanical, thermal, fluid flow problems from designs, simulations to real prototype designs
  • Strong work ethic, dedication to tasks and project completion

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Industrial engineering or equivalent work experience (an asset);
  • Experience of at least 5-7 years in similar functions;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strategic vision and ability to set priorities and make decisions quickly;
  • Curiosity and excellent adaptability to an evolving and complex environment;
  • Ability to stimulate, but also to channel creativity into research & development projects;
  • Very good understanding of the scientific method and how to problem solve complex issues;
  • Real world hands-on experience with various processes such as;
    • Quick design and prototyping work
    • Basic hand tools (drill, saw, grinder, hammer, screwdriver, etc.)
    • Basic machining tools (lathe, milling machine, presses, CNC, plasma, welding, etc.)
    • Basic industrial processes (stamping, bending, rolling, cutting, surface treatments, etc.)
    • Good knowledge of various industry standards (ASTM, UL, CSA, CGSB, FCC, ROHS, etc)
    • Good knowledge of various industry codes & specifications
  • Clear & concise communication skills that are dynamic and creative in English as a minimal requirement, bilingualism is an asset (French, English);
  • Mastery of modern mechanical engineering tools; (software, hardware, hand tools and processes)
  • Strong analytical and strategic interpretation of results;
  • Excellent ability to manage priorities.
