Québec Supports Investment Project of $71.4 Million

Montreal, November 25, 2016 – The Government of Québec is providing $12 million in financial support to Hypertec Group. This support will enable the company, situated in Saint-Laurent, to complete an investment project valued at $71.4 million.

This project, which will create more than 260 jobs in Montréal in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector, comprises the following four components:

  • Increase the production capacity of IT products;
  • Establish a state-of-the-art data center designed for cloud providers in the metropolis;
  • Establish new activities for the recovery and recycling of electronic components of computer equipment; and,
  • Expand equipment management and telehomecare services in Québec and Western Canada.

“We are proud to support this project, which contributes as much to the growth of the manufacturing industry as it does to that of the ICT sector. In addition, this initiative will enable Québec to strengthen its digital infrastructure by setting up a data center in the metropolis. By supporting its achievement, we reiterate our government’s desire to further stimulate Québec’s shift toward the digital economy,” said Minister Dominique Anglade.

Jean-Marc Fournier, Minister responsible for Canadian Relations and the Canadian Francophonie, Government House Leader and Member of Parliament for Saint-Laurent, added: “Thanks to the recognized know-how of dynamic companies such as Hypertec Group, the Montréal region stands out as a true technological showcase for the growth of the ICT sector, particularly at the international level. It is therefore, with enthusiasm that we support this project today, which will allow our metropolis to maintain its strategic position and have Québec take a step into the digital future.”

“Montréal is a global hub in the fields of multimedia, advanced technologies and information technologies. This investment by the Government of Québec consolidates this position, creates numerous high quality jobs and reinforces the attractiveness of the metropolis, thus encouraging the sustained growth of the industry,” said the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Land Occupancy, Minister of Public Safety and Minister responsible for the Montréal region, Mr. Martin Coiteux.

“Through these joint investments, we will continue to innovate and remain a world leader, ensuring long-term prosperity in the highly competitive ICT sector in Québec,” said Mr. Eliot Ahdoot, Executive Vice President of Operations at Hypertec Group.

“By investing with us, the Government of Québec focuses on innovation and a skilled workforce so that we can offer the world’s leading players cutting-edge technology products and services in sectors such as cloud computing, finance, healthcare, the environment or aerospace,” continued Mr. Ahdoot.
